Winter on the Rose
Vienna, Austria. August 1938. Everything Hannelore, Hanni, Weiss Brunner loves is rapidly disappearing in the wake of the German invasion. After her father is violently beaten by the invading Germans, she retreats to her flat overlooking the Danube canal believing she is safe. Until she is confronted with a truth, she can no longer deny. One by one, she watches as those she loves are taken from her, including her two-year-old son, Aaron. Forced to flee Vienna, she is torn between leaving her son behind in the care of a stranger, or facing arrest for a crime she did not commit.
